Important Furnace Recall Information
Ameristar is recalling certain furnaces sold through independent dealers from July 2016 through August 2016.
Description: This recall (number: 17-709) involves Ameristar brand furnaces manufactured in the U.S. and distributed by Trane U.S. Inc. of Tyler, Texas. The model and serial numbers of the recalled furnaces are printed on a white label on the left or right-hand side of the unit. The following model numbers are included in the recall:
Hazard: The ground wire in the furnace’s junction box can become loose. If an electrical component then fails and short circuits, the unit poses a shock hazard.
Remedy: Consumers should contact Trane to receive a free replacement junction box and free installation. The firm is contacting customers directly. Consumers should avoid contact with the furnaces until the junction box is replaced.
